Ashton on Mersey is delighted to report that the class of 2020 have achieved examination results that are a true reflection of the ability and work ethic of an excellent year group.
Following the government’s announcement that Centre Assessed Grades may be used to measure GCSE pupil performance, our Year 11 cohort have achieved, as a minimum, results which show that the process at Ashton on Mersey has been robust and accurate with the staff at school being best placed to estimate GCSE and BTEC results.
Pupils have not been disadvantaged in terms of final outcomes and they have been rewarded for all of their hard work and the GCSE results day (whilst unique) saw many smiling pupils and staff.
Headlines include the fact that over 57% of pupils achieved a grade 5 in English and Maths and over 79% of pupils achieving a grade 9-4 in both of these key subjects. More importantly, pupils have made strong and rapid progress in many subject areas and there are some fantastic individual success stories with our highest performing pupil achieving 5 Grade 9s, 8 Grade 8s and 2 Grades 7s.
These grades will ensure that all of our pupils have the greatest possible chance of securing their chosen next steps with pupils securing places on a range of Level 3 courses, apprenticeships and A-Level courses across the borough and Greater Manchester.
